Club & Activities
At Hillside Elementary School, education and inspiration doesn’t just take place inside the classroom. We believe that another important aspect of student life is being involved in clubs and activities. Our clubs, led by enthusiastic instructors, allow students the opportunity to interact with their peers who share similar interests.
After-School Program
At the end of the school day, our school offers a fun and positive environment for students in our after-school program. We offer a wide variety after-school enrichment programs that develop our students’ mind, body, and spirit.
Athletics
We are happy to provide a variety of opportunities for our Cougar Cubs to be physically active at our school. Participation in team and individual sports not only promotes a feeling of family and belonging, but it allows students to develop themselves physically and emotionally. Students gain strength and skills and have the opportunity to develop leadership skills while learning the art of good sportsmanship and fair play.
Drama
Through our school’s drama program, students interact and move with others. They speak and respond to one another. They explore meaningful fictional situations that parallel the real world. Drama encourages students to actively and interactively learn throughout their elementary years. Students develop skills such as as communication, creativity, inquiry, leadership, cooperation, empathy, self-confidence, and negotiation. Most importantly, drama activities are fun, memorable, and enjoyable!
Garden Club
We believe the benefits of our school garden club are wide ranging. In our club, students gain confidence as they learn life skills. They learn about teamwork, the environment, and sustainability. And along the way, they learn about making good choices for a healthy lifestyle.
Music
The aim of our music program is to instill a love of music. Much learning and fun goes on in the short time we meet together; we make the most of it and love every second.
Student Council
Participation in student government gives students valuable experiences in the democratic process. Incoming middle school students may seek election to the student council. All students who wish to participate in student council must meet academic qualifications and receive no severe disciplinary referrals.
